The Broken Rung: Girls, let’s go over it and fix it!!

YES WE CAN!
โ€œThe Broken Rungโ€โ€ฆ doesnโ€™t it sound like the title of a bad horror movie?
What is it?
๐Ÿ“ It is a phenomenon where women won’t get promoted as often as men when they start working.
Women would miss the initial promotion to management more than men would and hence, would struggle all along their career to catch up (research led by McKinsey and LeanIn.Org).
Sounds familiar?
It does, doesn’t it?
โŒ It seems that women are less likely to make themselves visible in their company, especially when they are recently hired.
โŒThey are extremely engaged in their job but will keep efforts and results to their close circle of colleagues and to their manager.
————————
So now what solutions do we, female leaders, have to overcome this situation? What can we influence to succeed?
Remember you are facing tough competition.
โญ You want to be promoted => you need to be visible to your leaders.
โญ Donโ€™t wait for them to notice your work. It will take too long and it might never happen.
โญ You donโ€™t want them to notice your work only. They need to remember YOU, the person behind the job.
So act!
โŽ find a mentor to help you navigate where you want to go.
โŽ help to organise events within your company,
โŽ take the leadership role in organising
โŽ Be present at company functions,
โŽ network
The more present you are, then the more people will hear your voice, the more they will remember you.
You can do it!

๐Ÿ’ก Coaching will help you take a seat a the table and RAISE YOUR VOICE (yes, I am shouting now!)
So call me and let’s change what needs to be changed to make you jump higher than this Broken Rung that is stopping you from progressing up the ladder!!
(And to finish on an even more positive note, A recent LinkedIn study has revealed that women who climb to the top of the corporate ladder do so 1.4 years faster than men).
