Today’s priority? Building Trust with your team!

Have you heard of this very insightful book “The Five Dysfunctions of a Team”, by Patrick Lencioni ?
It explores the challenges that teams face and provides a framework for overcoming them.
The book identifies 5 dysfunctions that can hinder a team’s effectiveness.
The first dysfunction is the lack of trust.
Trust refers here to the confidence that team members have in one another’s abilities, intentions, and reliability.
When trust is present, team members are more likely to be open and honest with one another, which fosters a healthy working environment.
To build trust within a team, Lencioni suggests these strategies:
- Encourage open and honest communication
- Establish clear expectations and goals
- Be consistent and reliable
- Foster accountability
- Lead by example
Now the challenge is to put them in place, sooner rather than later.
Leadership coaching will help you.
Let’s work together on each of these strategies.
You can start thinking at what is more important for you by reflecting on these questions:
- How do you create a safe environment where team members feel comfortable sharing thoughts, ideas and concerns without fear of judgment or repercussion?
- How do you clearly define roles, responsibilities and expectations for each team member and ensure that everyone understands the team’s overall objectives?
- How do you hold team members accountable for their actions and decisions, and encourage them to hold each other accountable as well?
- How do you make sure you demonstrate consistency in your actions and behaviors, and be reliable in fulfilling your commitments to the team?
- As a leader, how do you model the behavior you expect from your team members and show trust in their abilities and intentions?
